Dr. Ross Rich of Cave Creek Equine to Present at North American Veterinary Regenerative Medicine Association Conference

November 06, 2013 --

Dr. Ross Rich of Cave Creek Equine Surgical and Diagnostic Imaging Center will be presenting his scientific data at the North American Veterinary Regenerative Medicine Association (NAVRMA) Conference in Atlanta, Georgia November 10-13, 2013.  Dr. Rich is scheduled to speak on the "Outcome of 42 Horses with Stifle Injuries Treated with Adipose-Derived Regenerative Cells & IRAP" the third day of the conference, Tuesday, November 12, 2013 4:00pm.

Last year Dr. Rich’s abstract, the "Outcome of 84 Horses with Suspensory Injuries Treated with Adipose-Derived Regenerative Cells" was accepted and presented at NAVRMA.  His findings proved that "treatment of suspensory injuries with adipose-derived regenerative cells could improve the outcome over other therapies, and reduce re-injury rates."

Dr. Rich required that all horses complete a standardized, post-treatment exercise program, and considered cases that returned to work and stayed in full work for more than a year without re-injury a success.  Dr. Rich found that nearly 86% of the horses not only returned and remained in full work, but returned to their previous level of performance or higher.

Dr. Rich works with Vet-Stem, Inc. labs in Southern California to process adipose tissue collected from each horse undergoing therapy for injury.  Vet-Stem processes the tissue extracting the naturally existing stem cells and returns them in concentrated, sterile, injectable doses to Dr. Rich’s Center in Cave Creek, Arizona in 48 hours.

Vet-Stem first pioneered stem cell therapy for use in horses for tendon injuries, as an alternative to other choices such as euthanasia.  Dr. Rich has continued to prove that Vet-Stem’s Regenerative Cell Therapies are beneficial for more than just tendon injuries.  He also has taken strides to refine the process of injecting, and believes in a holistic approach to treatment, which discourages retreatment by decreasing re-injury.

About Vet-Stem, Inc.

Vet-Stem, Inc. was formed in 2002 to bring regenerative medicine to the veterinary profession.  The privately held company is working to develop therapies in veterinary medicine that apply regenerative technologies while utilizing the natural healing properties inherent in all animals.  As the first company in the United States to provide an adipose-derived stem cell service to veterinarians for their patients, Vet-Stem, Inc. pioneered the use of regenerative stem cells in veterinary medicine.  The company holds exclusive licenses to over 50 patents including world-wide veterinary rights for use of adipose derived stem cells.  In the last decade over 10,000 animals have been treated using Vet-Stem, Inc.'s services, and Vet-Stem is actively investigating stem cell therapy for immune-mediated and inflammatory disease, as well as organ disease and failure.
