Vet-Stem and Central Veterinary Research Labs of Dubai Sign Exclusive License

San Diego, California- Vet-Stem Inc. September 13, 2007. Vet-Stem, Inc., the global leader in regenerative veterinary medicine, has licensed their proprietary stem cell technology to the Central Veterinary Research Laboratory (CVRL) of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The license allows the laboratory to offer adipose-derived stem cell services to animal owners throughout the Middle East region. The ruler of Dubai and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, is one of the world’s largest thoroughbred owners and sponsors the richest horse racing day, the Dubai World Cup. “The Central Veterinary Research Laboratory will be an excellent partner in bringing this technology from the US to the Middle East as they are already the most respected reference lab in the region†says Dr. Bob Harman, CEO of Vet-Stem. The CVRL intends to provide stem cell services for treatment of injuries in thoroughbred race horses, Arabian endurance horses, racing camels, and many other species. Vet-Stem's clients in the United States have already treated over 2500 horses and over 100 dogs with arthritis, tendon, and ligament injuries with a success rate of over 70% return to normal performance.

Vet-Stem delivers stem and other regenerative cells from a small fat sample for use in treating an animal’s own injuries. This clearly avoids the controversy of using stem cells taken from embryos. This technology provides the opportunity for regeneration and healing of tendon and ligament injuries instead of the normal scarring process which reduces performance and may increase chances of re-injury. Stem cells are delivered to the veterinarian only 48 hours after a small fat sample is collected from the injured animal. Priority overnight shipment has allowed Vet-Stem to develop veterinary clients in all parts of the country and has eliminated regional issues typically associated with service expansion. “Our success in animals is directly translatable to humans, said Robert J. Harman, DVM, MPVM CEO Vet-Stem, Inc., “and we wish to share our evidence that stem cells are safe and effective

About Vet-Stem, Inc.
Vet-Stem, Inc. was formed in 2002 to bring regenerative medicine to the veterinary profession. This privately held company is working to develop therapies in veterinary medicine that apply regenerative technologies while utilizing the natural healing properties inherent in all animals.

In January of 2004, Vet-Stem introduced the first veterinary stem cell service in the United States. Since that time there has been rapid adoption of this technology for treatment of tendon, ligament, and joint injuries by the veterinary community. Studies have shown that mesenchymal stem cells can dramatically improve the healing of injuries and diseases that have had very few treatment options in the past.
